DESCRIPTION OF CLASSROOM/ LIVE WEBINAR STUDY
— Small classes; includes 12 sessions of 2.7 hours (national) and 2 sessions of 4 hours (state)
— Schedule is revolving; you can join at any time; each session stands by itself on the topic described in the course outline
— Lectures from class outline and from slides:
–Session One: Agency; Defining Real Property and Personal Property; Marketing Considerations (5.4 hours)
–Session Two: Contracts (5.4 hours)
–Session Three: Title and Deeds; Estates; Landlord Tenant (5.4 hours)
–Session Four: Financing; Federal Financing Laws (5.4 hours)
–Session Five: Appraisal; Property Management, Environmental Issues, Zoning (5.4 hours)
–Session Six: Calculations; Property Description; Fair Housing; Closing (5.4 hours)
–Session Seven: VT Law Study (8 hours)
— Real estate business experiences are discussed (the class is a full course which allows for discussion of practice considerations not necessarily on the exam, as well as regular exam prep)
— Learning occurs through: (1) Lecture; (2) Class Discussion; (3) Follow-up Reading; (4) Follow-up chapter tests; (5) Reinforcing Online and Phone tools included
— Classes are taught by an attorney/law professor versed in real estate law; a practice broker who is approved by the Vermont Real Estate Commission may be substituted when necessary
— Text book and Review Book (not included): Modern Real Estate Practice, version 21.0 and Guide to Passing the PSI Real Estate Salesperson Exam, version 8
PRACTICE and FINAL EXAMINATIONS
The Randy Mayhew School of Real Estate website contains various practice exams (both National and Vermont) as well as a sample Final Exam. These are found in the FIRST COLUMN of the website home page under the heading QUICK ACCESS. These exams are recommended for your use, however, they are NOT REQUIRED.
CERTIFICATION OF COMPLETION
To complete this study and receive a certificate of completion you must: (1) complete all classes covering national study materials within nine (9) months of your beginning date (up to three (3) month extension may be granted for hardship situations); and (2) complete your Vermont Law Study component within one (1) year from your beginning date.
